University of Toronto G8 Information Centre

The Seminar and Conference Program

Throughout the year the G8 Research Group conducts both public and private events that feature individuals engaged in the Summit process and international issues. These events serve to educate and inform our audiences and raise the profile of both the G8 Research Group and the work it undertakes. (See Conferences.)

The Denver Summit marked the launch of a successful pilot project aimed at establishing an annual Pre-Summit Conference to be held on the eve of the Summit. Since then, the G8 Research Group has sponsored conferences in the Summit host’s country, which attract the international media as well as interested policy-making organizations.

To assist in these efforts the University of Toronto develops strategic partnerships with a top-level academic institution situated in each Summit member state. Partners have included the University of Calgary, INSEAD, Indiana University, the Global Governance Group, the Guido Carli Association, among many others. Over time the G8 Research Group seeks to become an organisation composed of eight institutional partners engaged in research and analysis on the Summit process, contributing to the G8 Information Centre, the annual Pre-Summit Conference and to the Research Group team that attends the Summit each year.
