G7/8 Commitment Data Sets, 1975-2006
In its ongoing effort to assess the performance of the G8 system of global governance, the G8 Research Group has produced a series of data sets to identify the commitments published in communiqués and statements issued at G8 summits and ministerial meetings.
Commitments are measureable, discrete, future-oriented collective expressions of intended action that bind or constrain their signatories in regard to the course of action they might otherwise take in the future. Individual commitments may, but do not have to, contain specified implementing measures, targeted welfare outcomes, or temporal timetables for partial and full compliance.
We welcome feedback on these data sets. Please send your comments and questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
