Iraq
1. The military is mobilized to ensure that Iraq would comply with security council resolutions. For example:

• The Joint Task Force—Southwest Asia, a component of US Central Command at MacDill Air Force Base, is charged with Operation Southern Watch – the operation to compel Iraq to comply with UNSCR 687 calling for UN inspections.
  
• The operation includes the enforcement of the No-Drive Zone in Iraq in support of UNSCR 949 and the No-Fly Zone in support of UNSCR 688.
  
• A provisional 4404th Wing of the Air Force is set up for the above purposes.

4. Referring to the UN's continuous sanctions against Libya for the its failure to comply with UNSCR 731 on bombings of Pan Am 103 & UTA 772, Robert Pelletreau -- at the time Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs – stated on Sep 25, 96:

"We continue to condemn strongly Libya's lack of cooperation in helping bring these tragic episodes to an end, and we will continue to support the international community's resolve to see that justice is served."

5. As well, the President signed the Iran & Libya Sanctions Act 1996 on August 5, 1996.

6. Recently, the US condemned Gadhafi's trip to Nigeria and his stopover in Niger along the way, accusing the Libyan leader of violating UN sanctions. The state department is investigating into the incident.
