~ Country Objectives ~
  1. Funding for Israeli-Palestinian Peace Deal:
Bill Clinton is seeking to end his last term as President with a flourish for the history books. He is in the process of brokering an Israeli-Palistinian peace deal and will seek G8 financial support for its implementation

  2. Information Technology:
With the intense focus on information technology, the United States will seek to have enshrined in the Summit charter on IT the "Four Electronic Freedoms" -- which are distinct American values relating to e-commerce.More specifically, the Americans wish to extend the existing moratorium on the taxation of international e-commerce indefinitely, liberalize air cargo services, deregulation of telecommunications industries worldwide, and the extension of IT beyond e-commerce to areas such as education and development.

  3. Funding for ETRI:
The United States will hope to gain contributions from its fellow G7 members to fund the Expanded Threat Reduction Initiative, which will finance the reduction of Russian weapons of mass destruction.
