Notes

This prospective agenda for the 2006 G8 Foreign Ministers Meeting is compiled by the G8 Research Group from public sources as an aid to researchers and other stakeholders interested in the G8. It will be updated periodically as planning evolves and as more information becomes available about its intended and actual agenda.

On January 18, 2006, Alexei Sazonov, a senior official from the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that the G8 Foreign Ministers will meet in June 2006.[1] Sazonov stated that the Foreign Ministers will "discuss foreign political issues to be addressed at the summit."[2] Sazonov also noted that approximately 100 meetings will be held before the St. Petersburg Summit, half of which will involve the Foreign Ministry.
