G8 Online is an online university-level course about the G8 and its annual summit, held this year on June 26-27 in Kananaskis, Alberta. Produced by the University of Toronto's G8 Research Group, G8 Online 2002 provides civil society with straightforward information about the G8 - its history, its evolution and its agenda. Course materials are posted in the weeks leading up to the G8 Summit right through to an evaluation delivered just after the leaders go home, and will be archived for easy year-round access.

Available in English and French, G8 Online 2002 offers:

  • 26 short lectures, in video, audio and text, easily accessible on any connection anywhere
  • student-led discussions
  • special guest lectures
  • interaction with teaching assistants, professors and other users through bulletin boards,
  • emails and commentary
  • quizzes, discussion questions and recommended readings
  • featured content - daily diaries, critical commentaries, interviews and more.

G8 Online 2002 is available for free to everyone: students, instructors, media, even the leaders themselves. The more clear-eyed, analytical information we can provide, the better equipped everyone is to deal with the issues facing us all today - understanding globalization, reducing poverty, sustaining growth, fighting terrorism. G8 Online 2002 gives you lecturers and instructors with years of expertise in these topics plus a lively forum to discuss what's on your mind.

G8 Online 2002 is sponsored by the G8 Research Group. The Research Group's mission is to serve as the world's leading independent source of information and research on the G8 and its institutions. Founded in 1987 and based at the University of Toronto, it is an international network of scholars, professionals and students interested in the activities of the G8.
